Does it really matter who is the Mayor of Torbay?
To those concerned with the loss of Cary Green or deterioration of Oldway Mansions, yes. To those concerned about the natural beauty of Torbay, yes. To the business people trying to make a living with parking policies killing our Town Centres and driving trade away, absolutely, yes. To the volunteers trying to run events such as Paignton children’s week, yes. To the most vulnerable, needing help keeping a roof over their heads, yes. To the B&B or attraction owner concerned with the loss of the ERTC and uncertain replacement, yes. To youngsters struggling to get jobs, yes. To the elderly wondering what will happen to them if they need care, yes. The Mayor effects all these.

To know me and my concerns. l am 50 and married with five children. A graduate in economics, with a specialism in Regional Development, I have built my own award winning heritage venture in tourism. With three decades of experience, I am a ‘valued’ mentor and ‘problem solver’ in finance; currently managing multi-million £ portfolios. I was a founder ‘Street Pastor’ and am a current Director and Trustee of a locally based national charity. In 2011, I was the successful instigator of Plainmoor Pool rescue plan, a seemingly impossible solution.
I have multiple concerns – a mismanagement of our budget effecting youth, charities, business and our Gems like Oldway and The Pavilion – the cynical cutting by the Mayor of our main destination marketing arm, leaving tourism and retail industries at risk – and who can change the direction, which without can be devastating for all.
